We had a soft launch of Independent Learning Press, and I wish to take a moment to relay some information about the project.
The market is full of corporate publishing houses, ones who pay a lot of money to keep their market share by supporting copyright law. These businesses “buy” the rights from authors, musicians and other artists, and for many this is the only way one can do business, without these sponsors there is a vast market inaccessible to them. Basically the choice is give up the authority to use the product of your mind in some varying degree or be left in a position where reaping benefits is difficult or in some cases impossible.
Independent Learning Press (ILP) seeks to change the course of these events, there is no reason an author, musician or any artists for that matter should not be able to share their work as they see fit. To remedy this ILP does not buy the rights to any work coming to it, rather the Press publishes the work through self-publishing organizations allowing the author to retain full rights over their material.
The process is simple, mail me about your manuscript (currently I am only familiar with books, I am working out the details about the rest), not the actual manuscript, just a synopsis of the work and how far along you are. From there we can discuss if you would like editing work done by us, what kind of presentation you would like and how much you are expecting in return for your work. If you choose to go with ILP, the base price for the service (just publishing) is $60, this is for a moderate sized book (100 to 200 pp.) in black and white with a soft gloss cover, this can be paid up front or, if you choose, it may be taken out of royalties from online sales. This covers the title costs and furnishes the author with a proof copy to look over and approve, if the author wishes to order books in order to give away, sell or what have you, there is a fee which is the cost of the books ordered plus shipping, not a cent more. If at anytime you want to leave ILP, it may take up to 6 weeks for the self publishing organization to finish selling out the copies they printed in advance, but once they do, your title is your own.
Sure, you can wait until you get discovered as an author, musician or artist of any sort, make bank off selling your art to a publisher if you are in the fortunate 1%, or you can act now, maybe get to be that 1% sooner, or not need to be at all. The only way we move forward is by moving, hopefully in seeing this one may be inspired to take advantage of the offer.
Currently ILP has 2 books available, both authored by me:

"If you can't say fuck you can't say Fuck the State!" Lenny Bruce
Fuck the State: Aug 2010
$8.00 Unsigned $10.00 Signed
Fuck the State is a collection of articles and web posts written by Harry Felker which document his philosophical change from minarchist to anarchist.
Dreams and Nightmares: Sept 2011
$10.00 Unsigned $12.00 Signed
Dreams & Nightmares is a short story book written by Harry Felker, satirical, witty and just plain weird have all been used to describe this work. The stories within offer a wide range including Science Fiction, Alternate Reality, Parody and Satire. Harry, who is an anarchist, displays his philosophical points of view on various subjects in this book. If there is any disruption of one’s view of the status quo, or a reinforcement in the distrust in authority, it is purely coincidental, and not specifically by design. Harry is an educator through online media, contributor to “The Libertarian Enterprise” and freelance counter economist.
